An Arya Samaj wedding is conducted by Arya Samaj in any of its temples across the country, with Vedic mantras. Simplicity is the key word which can be used to describe these marriages. Although these marriages are meant to be performed by hindus only but with the process of Shuddhi i.e.Purification any non –hindu can also undergo the marriage ritual.
Arya Samaj doesn’t believe in idol worship, therefore only fire and few witnesses are needed for the marriage to take place. In these weddings, the mantras are first translated into a language which the couple can understand then chanted. Unlike traditional Hindu marriages, elaborate rituals are not there enabling the ceremony to be completed in an hour. Needless to say, the expenses are really low as compared to Hindu marriages.
